Acupoints to Improve Skin Complexion
Perfect and glowing skin is widely regarded as a sign of good health, which is largely depends on three major factors:
1) Your digestive system is functioning well to absorb the nutrients from the food,
2) Your excretory system to efficiently eliminate waste products,
3) Your hormones are balanced.
Continuing from the last week's topic Skincare Essentials for Spring, in this blog, let's learn about the important acupoints that can help regain a good health, hence transform your skin conditions!
Acupressure has been used in China as a beauty therapy for decades with proven effectiveness. Acupressure is to help improve skin condition, firm up facial muscles and connective tissues that have weakened due to aging over the years.
How to Apply Pressure to the Points
Use your middle finger for self-acupressure since this finger is the longest and strongest of your fingers. The thumb is strong, but this finger may not have the sensitivity required for acupressure. You can also use your knuckles or your fist for an increased stimulation.
Acupoints for Strengthening the Digestive System and Balancing Hormone for a Brighter Complexion
1. Quchi Point / Shousanli Point
These two acupunts belongs to the Large Intestine Meridian, and are located at the top of the horizontal line of the elbow bent at a right angle, and about 1 inch down from the elbow (as shown on pictures above).
Stimulating these two points can help strengthen the digestive system and excretory system, clear away excess heat in body, and reduce inflammation and alleviating allergies.
2. Sanyinjiao Point
It is an acupoint on the Spleen Meridian of Foot Shaoyin, located on the inner side of the calf, about four finger widths above the tip of the inner ankle. It has the effect of promoting blood circulation and dredging collaterals and regulating skin allergy symptoms.
3. Xuehai Point
It belongs to the Spleen Meridian, located where the palm is clasped on the knee and the thumb is pressed. Stimulation can help invigorates and cools the blood, dispels blood stasis (cause to pale and dull skin complexion), harmonizes menstruation, balances hormone.
4. Liver Meridian on Face
The Liver Meridian is responsible for the replenishment of the blood for growth and renewal by filtering, detoxifying, nourishing, and storing blood. It regulates the amount of blood circulating, withdrawing and storing it when resting or sleeping, and releasing it during exercise.
Insufficient rest, irregular sleeping pattern and emotional imbalances could cause blockage along this meridian and the function of Liver organ, hence it reflects on the face as dark spots, especially on the cheekbones below the eye.
